Protecting sites of significance
In this module, students learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sites of significance, what they are, why they matter, and how they are protected. Through the case study of Carnarvon Gorge, students investigate current management practices, explore examples of both successful and unsuccessful site protection across Australia, and consider how co-management and meaningful partnerships can preserve cultural heritage. They conclude by making recommendations for the ongoing protection and respectful management of Carnarvon Gorge.
