Ngarrngga Featured in VATE Idiom Publication
The Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE)’s latest Idiom publication explores the theme ‘A Chorus of Voices: Sharing Stories, Knowledge and Truth’, discussing how educators can further appreciate and elevate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices in the classroom.
Included in the latest issue of Idiom, is an article ‘Building a Practice of Truth-Telling in English Classrooms’ by Ngarrngga team members (Professor Melitta Hogarth, Dr Jessica Gannaway, Sara Tajima, and Emma Ross), and Faculty of Education colleagues (Dr Troy Potter, Dr Helen Cozmescu, and Associate Professor Sarah Truman). The article looks to answer how educators can enact the critical work of truth-telling in classrooms in age appropriate and culturally safe ways, with the inclusion of suggested texts.
You can read the article on the VATE website or by PDF.
